The Team Behind Little Wooden Flower

There’s something special about using paint to get the perfect shade of peony.

It all started with a way-too-hands-on bride, a pandemic and a cancelled wedding reception.

Jenny Rodgers – Owner

After her engagement, Jenny fell in love with the idea of using wood flowers for their wedding. There was something wonderful about having her wedding bouquet displayed for years to come.

During the middle of the pandemic, Andy (her Groom) suggested using the 300+ wood flowers tucked away in the closet to create arrangements to share with others. Jenny reluctantly posted some pictures and the response was inspiring.

Jenny’s background started in the fashion industry at FIT where she spent her weekends working backstage at fashion shows and designing window displays. Her career moved on to marketing and event coordination in both pharmaceuticals and insurance.

Channeling her event based background, The Little Wooden Flower has brought Jenny into the wedding industry. She has such a passion for working with brides-to- be and making their wedding dreams a reality.

The Little Wooden Flower would not be made possible without her forever Groom, Andy and their little assistant, Lilah… oh and their fur babies of course!

FAQ’s

  • Wood flowers, often called sola wood flowers, are made from a few different plants and vary by vendor. They can be made from balsa wood, derived from the tapioca plant, using the root of the marshy plant, or made from the Shola plant. All of these materials give a paper-like material that is versatile and forgiving. We only use the best vendors for our flowers to ensure they are as realistic as possible and of the best quality.

  • No. Our wood flowers are made from natural materials, and if left exposed, they will mold and break down over time. Our flower arrangements are suitable for wreaths that will be hung inside of a storm door, or a well protected porch covering.

If painted flowers get wet, there is a chance the color will bleed onto others. If you do leave your flowers exposed to the elements, we will not be held liable for any fading, color transfer or flower breakdown once they leave our studio.

  • If kept properly, your arrangements will last you for years to come. Because our flowers are made from natural materials, they need to be taken care of properly to ensure their lifespan.

Do not keep your flowers in direct heat or sunlight (ie. an afternoon sun filled window) as the sun/heat will dry out the flowers and cause them to become brittle and break at the touch.

Do not leave your flowers exposed to moisture (exposed front door, spring rains outside, humid rooms) as they can mold.

If you are packing away your arrangements for a different season, loosely wrap in bubble wrap to protect breakage, and store in a container with holes to ensure air flow, in a humidity-free room.
